Extractions

When removal is necessary, we make it as comfortable as possible.

Sometimes a tooth is too damaged, decayed, or problematic to save — and extraction is the right call. At Dr. Harshi's Dental Clinic, extractions are performed with precision and care under effective local anaesthesia, ensuring the experience is as painless and stress-free as possible. We also discuss tooth replacement options so you are never left with an unplanned gap.

Extractions

When is a tooth extraction necessary?

Extractions are recommended when a tooth is severely decayed beyond restoration, cracked at the root, causing crowding ahead of orthodontic treatment, infected and unable to be saved with root canal treatment, or is a wisdom tooth causing recurring pain or damage to adjacent teeth.

What does the extraction procedure involve?

The tooth and surrounding gum are numbed with local anaesthesia before anything begins. Dr. Harshi then loosens the tooth using specialised instruments before carefully removing it. The socket is cleaned and gauze is placed to control bleeding. Most simple extractions take 15–30 minutes from start to finish.

Does an extraction hurt?

You will feel pressure during the procedure but not pain — the area is fully anaesthetised. There may be soreness for a few days afterwards, which is well managed with standard painkillers. Dr. Harshi provides clear aftercare instructions and is available if you have any concerns during recovery.

What happens after extraction?

After a tooth is removed, it is important to consider replacement to prevent adjacent teeth from shifting and bone loss at the extraction site. Dr. Harshi will discuss options such as a dental implant, bridge, or partial denture depending on which tooth was removed and your overall oral health.
